My Journey

I am a visual artist trained at the Goa College of Art in 1998, and began my career as a visualizer, following an earlier role with a company in South Goa working on azulejos-inspired design projects. These experiences helped shape my approach to composition and surface.

As a Human my life, people from my life, and enviroment around me inspired me to do this work . Good and bad experiences, faces of good and evil, myths and facts, in and around our culture ,duality from nature and as per my individual perception. My current work explores how the concept of femininity is constructed under patriarchal influence, and every aspect of what is “feminine” is born from that. My focus is on breaking the visual and conceptual expectations of what "good femininity" is. Motherhood? caretaker? Or simply, being convenient?

I use texture and houses with leaves as both a visual tool and a metaphor, allowing me to build a style that evolves with each piece. Here, I want the viewer to look at houses as women and notice the normalised aspects.

In My Femininity Series, I depict the forms of shifting houses as a symbol of change and confinement. I show how deep-rooted traditions shape women’s lives, even when they try to grow beyond them. The work should make the viewer reflect about how the society’s deep-rooted ideas about gender, shapes a woman’s sense of space and identity. These houses personify women; they make us think about how society has long connected women with the idea of home and how that connection can be (and should be) seen, questioned, and reimagined.
